What is it precisely about traveling that makes it so desirable? Is it the destination or the journey itself? Perhaps we have an intrinsic need to discover the unknown: exploring new cultures, meeting new people, and trying new cuisines. Traveling helps open your mind; you may even end up learning more about your own culture as you explore new ones.
The travel industry has taken a nosedive. Since the first few cases of the coronavirus disease got reported in Wuhan. After all, we’re talking about an industry that profits from people leaving their houses. At a time when we’re closing borders, canceling events, and quarantining ourselves at home, traveling is hardly a priority.
But with 2023 on the horizon, there’s hope. Tourist destinations around the world are opening again. Travelers are getting back on planes. And while we can’t expect to escape the world of face masks and social distancing, it doesn’t matter to those truly passionate about traveling.
If you’re one of these passionate travelers, or you’re just looking to disconnect from the repetitive nature of adult life, keep reading below. We’ll be sharing our recommendations for some of the best tourist destinations to visit.

Venice, Italy
Are you amazed to see Venice in our recommendations? Venice is an island city, and it was once the greatest seaport in late medieval Europe. It’s undoubtedly one of Italy’s most picturesque cities with its twisted canals and distinct buildings. It’s a masterpiece of sorts, encompassing rich European art, architecture, and culture. The plazas and public squares are alluring, and each of the over four hundred bridges has its own stories to tell.
No trip to Venice would be complete without a graceful and romantic gondola ride down the Grand Canal.

Prague, Czech Republic
Prague is at the heart of Europe, filled with bridges, churches, and ancient buildings. Shadowing over them is the imposing Prague Castle, which is the largest castle complex in the world.
Prague may not be as famous as other European destinations, but it can certainly hold its own. During the World Wars, most of Prague’s architecture stands proudly erect. The city’s architecture is a spectacular mix of Baroque, Gothic, and Renaissance designs hard to find anywhere else in Europe.
Don’t bother with an Uber; Prague is a city you want to explore through the cobbled pathways on foot.

Istanbul, Turkey
No other city in the world straddles two continents; Istanbul is the bridge between the East and the West. Because of this unique distinction, Istanbul oozes history. The city got scattered with the remnants of its long and illustrious history. The Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque are exceptional examples of Byzantine architecture and design. The Grand Bazaar, which has the privilege of being one of the world’s largest. It is the oldest covered market and is a sight worth seeing (and a great place for Turkish souvenirs and handicraft shopping). Equally interesting is the Spice Bazaar, where you’ll find all sorts of dried fruits, nuts, herbs, and of course, spices. It’s also where you can get your fill of enticing Turkish pleasure.

Paris, France
Paris is known as the “City of Love” and has long been memorialized by famous artists of every type. But there’s more to Paris than just the Eiffel Tower (which is spectacular). Paris is renowned for its café culture and its pastries. You’ll find cute little bakeries selling freshly-baked bread and cakes at every corner. Paris is also famous for its fashion and design. Champs-Élysées Avenue is laced with high-end designer stores, perfect for some shopping (or window shopping). You could also stop by the Louvre Museum if you want a glimpse of the world’s most famous paintings: the Mona Lisa. As you approach the end of your visit, you should consider climbing the Arc de Triomphe for a memorable view of the entire city.
Again, there’s more to this city than just the Eiffel Tower, and you need to stop and experience the little things if you truly want to appreciate Paris for what it is.

New York City, USA
This one doesn’t need an introduction. New York City has it all, from exuberant nightclubs and packed theatres to impressive museums and beautiful galleries. Particularly impressive is the popular Times Square, scuffed with giant, brightly lit billboards and perfect for a late-night stroll. Equally impressive is the multitude of shopping malls and stores, filled to the brim with tourists.
Overlooking the entire city is the Statue of Liberty, a classic, iconic landmark.
Make sure to grab one (or two) of New York City’s finest bagels while you’re visiting.

Lucerne, Switzerland
Switzerland is arguably one of the most consistently beautiful countries in Europe, and Lucerne is considered one of the prettiest cities in this country. The focal point here is Lake Lucerne, an irregularly shaped but stunning body of water at the very center of Switzerland. It isn’t easy to put into words just how clear and mesmerizing this lake’s water is. If you’re lucky, you may find accommodation at the very edge of the lake, and you can spend your evenings getting your toes wet and relaxing by the water.
The Old Town in the center of the city is very captivating, and you’ll notice that the buildings here have vivid colors and bright roofs. Equally captivating is the Chapel Bridge, which is the world’s oldest surviving truss bridge.
Make sure to take a relaxing boat cruise across Lake Lucerne with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps.

Bali, Indonesia
If you’re interested in a more exotic destination, Bali is the way to go. Bali has been considered one of Southeast Asia’s best retreats for a very long time, and it’s easy to see why. The sceneries include a combination of rainforest and coastal scenery, with active volcanoes and rice terraces. Bali is the ideal tropical escape. It features beautiful beaches and coconut palm trees, making it suitable for surfing and other water activities.
Even though Bali holds strong to its local culture and customs, it caters nonchalantly to its visitors. No longer is Bali’s tourism merely limited to traveling backpackers, and there is now a huge variety of hotels, clubs, and accommodation.
Bali’s thatched temples are soul-soothing, and its cuisine is worth writing home about.
